Program Accreditation

The UW Cytotechnology Program is currently undergoing a transition to a new sponsor within the University of Wisconsin System and is not accepting new students at this time. We are collaborating with UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UW-Platteville, and UW-La Crosse to continue offering pathways in Cytology.

To stay informed about the program’s future and receive updates on application openings, please fill out our interest survey or contact us at cyto@office365.wisc.edu with any questions.

The Cytotechnology Program is fully accredited by the Council on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the Cytotechnology Programs Review Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology.

As part of our accreditation requirements, the program has an Education Advisory Board (CEAB) in place to assure that the program meets the needs of the community. The board is comprised of: previous students; private and hospital-based laboratory leaders; the public; and current student(s). The goal is to maintain open lines of communication with people within the field of cytopathology as well as those who are recipients of the testing performed in the cytopathology laboratory by discussing needs, current issues, and future topics the impact patient communities.
